Description: Inspired
by a rainy day, students will create self portraits using rain gear and adding
weather features.
Materials:
Crayons
9x12 paper
a rainy day... if the weather cooperates!
Objectives:
Students will be able to use
materials in a safe and respectful manner.
Students will be able to use the weather and
discussion for inspiration for their self portraits
Students will be able to discuss features of their faces as well as some
of the "extras" they can include in their drawings
Students will be able to exhibit some knowledge of themselves through the
drawing of their self portrait
Sequence: 1-2 days
Day One: (based on a 1 hour
period day)
Discuss the weather outside - what's happening?
Did you have to wear anything special today? (slicker, umbrella, etc)
Today we're going to draw ourselves in a rainy day, just like we are now!
What are some of the things we need to include? (start drawing self as
they come up with list... eyes, hair, face, etc) Is this starting to look like
me? What color are my eyes? Should I use that color to draw them?
