Title: Splatter Silhouettes

Level: 6th Grade

Description: Students will learn about silhouettes, and create their own original design for a silhouette, a cityscape, landscape, or something completely original. Then, they will explore a new paint application… spattering paint using speckling brushes. They will see how their silhouettes attain a new level of interest.

Materials:

Drawing pencils

18x24 manila paper

X-Acto blades & cardboard

Tempera paint

18x24 Oaktag paper

Speckling brushes

Objectives:

·        Students will be able to demonstrate a new knowledge of silhouettes through their drawing.

·        Students will be able to properly use a new art method and material, speckling brushes, to apply paint.

·        Students will be able to create an interesting and dynamic silhouette through their use of design elements and color.
